Bronwen Peternell is a Family Nurse Practitioner with over 10 years of clinical experience across many settings. She has diagnosed and treated the array of illnesses consequently developed by her patients, who had engaged in a lifetime of unhealthy habits. It is what constituted a majority of medical visits: chronic disease and complications that could have been prevented through healthy lifestyle behaviors.
In her 10 years of practicing, Bronwen realized that the healthcare system is a “disease-care” system that neglects health promotion. Patients with chronic illness come to the clinic seeking ways to be healthy and, unfortunately, the medical visit does nothing to address their questions. A medication is simply prescribed and very little attention is given to recommending lifestyle modifications.
Bronwen became a Family Nurse Practitioner with the intent to prevent disease and promote health through education. This is a difficult task to do in the current medical model. Bronwen started her own practice, in collaboration with her husband, Dr. Brian Peternell, DO, a specialist in Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine, to change that.
Bronwen fundamentally believes that people can change. They WANT to change. They simply need the exposure and the right environment to promote change. At RxTLC, Bronwen will provide medically guided nutrition and exercise counseling to clients with co-morbidities to help them reach their optimum health as a human being.
In her spare time, Bronwen practices what she preaches! When not with her patients, you can find her running or biking along the coast, grunting during a strength-training workout, grocery shopping for the ingredients to the latest and greatest recipe, or cooking
up a storm in her kitchen. She enjoys all this and more when she can share it with her incredibly energetic 5-year-old son, Jack, and loving husband, Brian.
